This mix of crushed oyster shells and calcium carbonate is a great source of calcium for your isopods. Use it as substitute or addition to cuttlebone or egg shells. Mix a small amount of oyster shells into your substrate or just sprinkle on top to supplement an older colony. Unlike egg shells or cooked animal bones, oyster shells are not attractive to mites (mites seem to love the membranes inside of egg shells and will cluster there). Oyster shells also seem to disappear faster than egg shells in our isopod bins, but this isn’t a scientific observation! 🙂
1 bag contains approximately 1/2 cup of oyster shell mix.
Calcium content: 35-39%
